Artists

We invite you to submit your artwork.

Specifications for submission: All entries must be the original work of the artist and must not have been previously exhibited in the Pembroke Arts Festival. There is a $10.00 non-refundable fee per entry and there is no limit on the number of entries. Flat work must be FRAMED, WIRED AND READY FOR HANGING—NO GLASS CLIPS. Outside dimensions not larger than 45"x45". We reserve the right to reject any work considered unsafe. Sculpture and 3-D entries must be accompanied by their own pedestal. Fiber Arts entries must be ready to hang or otherwise display. There will be a 30% commission on all sales made at the Festival. The Festival is held outdoors under a tent. All possible care will be taken and security is provided, however, the Pembroke Arts Festival will not be held responsible for loss or damage to any work.

Registration: Work must be delivered to the Pembroke Community Center, Rt. 14, Pembroke on Friday, July 18 between 7–9 p.m. or Saturday, July 19 between 9 a.m.–12 noon. Each artist must provide a stamped, self-addressed business-size envelope at time of registration to ensure notification of selection status of work. New this year: Unaccepted work may be picked up on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. – noon, or at any time during the festival. ALL EXHIBITED ART WORK MUST BE CLAIMED BETWEEN 4–5 PM ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 3 AT THE CLOSE OF THE FESTIVAL. WE DO NOT HAVE STORAGE FOR ART WORK AND WILL IMPOSE A $5.00 PER DAY HANDLING FEE FOR WORK NOT CLAIMED BY 5 PM ON AUGUST 3. Persons picking up art work must show registration receipt in order to claim work.

Please download the pdf file and print it out. Fill out THREE labels (A, B & C) for EACH entry. A & B will be attached to your entry and C, along with your self-addressed-stamped envelope (SASE), will be handed in to the volunteer taking in the art. If you have an email address, we would appreciate you filling in that space on the form, so we could notify you online next year. These entry forms are for the juried show only, NOT for children's exhibit.

2008 JUDGES

Crist N. Filer – works mainly in watercolor and pencil. He has been juried into 201 national and regional art shows and won 104 awards including five Grumbacher Gold Medals. His art, both abstract and representational, is in numerous private collections, including Boston University. He has demonstrated, juried art shows and given gallery talks and workshops in New England. Filer is past vice-president of the Cambridge Art Association and past president of the New England Watercolor Society where he is a Signature Member. He belongs to many other art organizations in eastern Massachusetts. Filer’s interest in art is strongly influenced by his scientific training, with a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Trinity College and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from M.I.T. His specialty is isotopic chemistry.

Gary Nisbet – spent much of his life on the West Coast working in restoration and decoration of historical landmark buildings. There he found the inspiration for his collage work containing metallic leaf, old paintings and found paper. He has held numerous solo shows and exhibited in galleries on both coasts and in Spain. His work has also been featured in various art books and magazines. He is now with the Dot Gallery in Hingham.

George Loring – has been a professional photographer for over 28 years. Owner of George M. Loring Studio in Hingham, he is a past member of Professional Photographers of America and a member of the New England Professional Photography Association. He has won awards from both groups for Portraiture, and from local art shows, for his Nature Photography. Loring has also judged a few local art shows. He has an Associates Degree from Massasoit in business with a minor in Art. His dad introduced him to photography at an early age, taking him along on photo shoots for the Patriot Ledger and Hingham Journal.
